How to Draw a Baby Anteater
Draw a baby anteater in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and snout.
Step 1: Head and snout
On the left, draw a round head that stretches into a long thin snout, pointing down a little.
Tip Keep the snout thin, like a straw.
Step 2: Nose, smile, eye
Colour a black nose on the tip. Draw a short smile along the snout and 1 big eye.
Tip Leave the eye white around the pupil.
Step 3: Round ear
Draw a small round ear on top of the head, near the back. Add a little oval inside.
Step 4: Plump body
Start behind the head. Draw a plump bean body over to the right and back under the chin.
Tip A baby is short and round.
Step 5: Front leg
Start on the chest. Draw a short thick leg down to a round paw. Stop on the tummy.
Step 6: Back leg
Start on the tummy near the back. Draw a bent leg down to a round paw. Stop on the rump.
Step 7: Far legs
Behind the near legs, draw 2 more legs peeking out, each one half hidden.
Step 8: Toes and ground
Draw 2 short toe lines on each near paw. Add a long flat ground line under the paws.
Step 9: Bushy tail
From the rump, draw a fat bushy tail curving back and down to a round tip. Add 2 hair lines.
Tip Make the tail fat, like a feather duster.
Step 10: Shoulder stripe
Draw 3 lines from the neck and chest that meet in a point on the back.
Tip The stripe is the anteater's badge.
Step 11: Cream and pink
Colour the thin top band of the stripe cream. Colour the inner ear and 1 cheek spot pink.
Step 12: Tan fur
Colour the head, ear, body and 2 near legs tan, around the eye, cheek and stripe.
Step 13: Brown and black
Colour the bushy tail and the 2 far legs brown. Colour the wide stripe black.
