How to Draw a Kit Fox
Draw a kit fox in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the left, above the middle, draw a wide soft head with a fluffy cheek point on the right.
Tip Leave room above for huge ears and on the right for the body.
Step 2: Huge ears
On top of the head draw 2 huge pointed ears leaning apart. Draw a smaller ear shape inside each.
Tip Kit fox ears are almost as tall as the head is wide.
Step 3: Big eyes
On the middle of the head, a little to the left, draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 4: Pointed snout
Under the eyes draw a long cone snout pointing down to the left. Put a black nose on its tip.
Tip Add a smile line along the bottom of the snout. Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 5: Long back
Start on the right cheek. Draw down the neck, along a long back, and curl round the bottom to stop.
Tip The line dips down the neck, then runs almost flat.
Step 6: Front leg
Draw a ground line. Start under the chin: draw a round chest, leg and paw. Stop behind the leg.
Tip The chest pokes forward. The leg gets thinner near the paw.
Step 7: Tummy and back leg
From the front leg draw the tummy. Then a round thigh down to a paw and up to the bottom.
Tip The back of the leg bends in above the paw.
Step 8: Far legs
Under the tummy draw 2 more legs peeking out from behind, each with a small paw on the ground.
Tip Only part of each far leg shows. All 4 paws sit on the ground.
Step 9: Toes
On each near paw draw 2 short toe lines. Draw 1 on each far paw.
Step 10: Bushy tail
Start on the bottom. Draw a fat bushy tail hanging down behind, then a short line across near its tip.
Tip Fattest in the middle, with a soft point at the end.
Step 11: Desert bushes
On the ground in front of the fox draw 2 small bumpy bushes, the first one bigger.
Tip Kit foxes live in the dry desert.
Step 12: Cream and peach
Go over your lines. Colour the snout cream and the inside of each ear peach.
Step 13: Sandy fur
Colour the fox sand, around the snout and ear middles. Leave the eyes and the tail tip white.
Step 14: Green and black
Colour the bushes green and the tip of the tail black.
