How to Draw an Anteater

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw an anteater in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and snout.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and snout

On the left, draw a small round head that stretches into a long thin snout, curving gently down.

Tip Make the snout longer than the head.

  2. Step 2: Nose, smile and eye

Colour a black nose on the tip, with a short smile behind it. Add 1 eye high on the head.

  3. Step 3: Round ear

Draw a small round ear on top at the back of the head. Draw a little oval inside it.

  4. Step 4: Humped body

Start behind the ear. Draw a bean body with a high hump, round the bottom, and stop under the head.

  5. Step 5: Front leg

Start on the chest under the head. Draw a thick leg down to a round paw. Stop on the tummy.

Tip Rub out the tummy line inside the leg.

  6. Step 6: Back leg

Start on the tummy near the back. Draw a thick leg down to a round paw. Stop on the bottom.

Tip Rub out the body line inside the leg.

  7. Step 7: Far legs

Draw 2 far legs peeking out between the near legs, each half hidden behind a near leg.

  8. Step 8: Toes and ground

Add 2 short toe lines on each near paw. Draw a long ground line under all 4 paws.

  9. Step 9: Bushy tail

Start on the back above the bottom. Draw a big bushy tail sweeping back and down. Stop on the bottom.

Tip Add 2 curved hair lines inside it.

  10. Step 10: Shoulder stripe

Draw 3 lines from the head and chest that meet in a point on the back, like a long triangle.

  11. Step 11: Cream and pink

Colour the thin top band of the stripe cream, and the inner ear and cheek pink. Leave the eye white.

  12. Step 12: Tan coat

Colour the head, ear, body and 2 near legs tan, going around the eye, nose, inner ear, cheek and stripe.

  13. Step 13: Brown and black

Colour the bushy tail and the 2 far legs brown, and the big stripe black.
