How to Draw an Azalea
Draw an azalea in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big flower.
Step 1: The big flower
Near the top of your paper draw a flower of 5 plump round petals, one pointing straight up.
Tip Azalea petals are soft and round, like a trumpet seen from the front.
Step 2: Middle and stamens
Draw a small middle circle. From its top, draw 3 lines up the top petal, each ending in a dot.
Step 3: Speckles
On the top petal, around the 3 lines, draw 3 tiny red dots.
Step 4: The twig
Start under the big flower. Draw a twig of 2 close lines down to near the bottom of the paper.
Step 5: Left flower
From the twig, under the flower, draw a short stalk to the left. Put a smaller flower on its end.
Tip Keep it apart from the big flower, with just 1 petal tucked behind it.
Step 6: Right flower
Draw a short stalk out to the right with another small 5-petal flower on its end.
Step 7: Two leaves
Draw a pointed leaf from the twig on the left, a lower one on the right, each with a vein.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a long ground line through the bottom of the twig. Add 2 grass blades on each side.
Step 9: Yellow middles
Colour the 3 little middles yellow.
Step 10: Pink petals
Colour the petals of the big flower pink, around its yellow middle and the red dots.
Step 11: More pink petals
Colour the petals of the 2 small flowers pink too, around their middles.
Step 12: Brown twig, green leaves
Colour the twig brown and both leaves green. Go over your lines and your azalea is done!
