How to Draw an Astronaut
Draw an astronaut in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room around the head for a big round helmet.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 big eyes in the middle of the head, with dots and shines. Add a nose, smile and eyebrows.
Step 3: Soft hair
Start on the left by the eyebrows. Draw round tufts over the top, down to the right. Add a hairline.
Step 4: Space helmet
Around the whole head draw a big circle for the helmet, leaving a gap all round.
Step 5: Neck and suit
Draw 2 neck lines and a collar ring. From the ring draw a round suit top back to the ring.
Step 6: Long sleeves
From each shoulder draw a sleeve down to the wrist, bending out at the elbow. Add a cuff line.
Step 7: Gloves
At the bottom of each sleeve draw a mitten glove. Start at the wrist and stop at the other side.
Step 8: Badge and box
On the left of the chest draw a small flag badge. In the middle draw a box with 2 lines.
Step 9: Trousers
Start at the suit's bottom left. Draw 2 long trouser legs with a point between. Stop at the bottom right.
Step 10: Boots and ground
Under each leg draw a tall boot, toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under the boots.
Step 11: Peach skin
Colour the face and neck peach and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes and the suit white.
Step 12: Grey and blue
Colour the boots, gloves and collar ring grey. Colour the box blue.
Step 13: Red and brown
Colour the flag badge red and the hair brown. Your astronaut is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: an astronaut, drawn by you.
