How to Draw a Tightrope Walker

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a tightrope walker in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave the whole width of the page free for the long pole.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle of the head, draw 2 round eyes with black dots and eyelashes. Add a nose and smile.

  3. Step 3: Hair, fringe and bun

Start by the left eyebrow. Draw hair over the head to the right eyebrow. Add a fringe and a bun.

  4. Step 4: Neck and leotard

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one, draw a leotard pulling in at the waist, ending at the right.

Tip Draw a star on the chest.

  5. Step 5: Arms out

From each sleeve, draw 2 lines out to a round elbow, then down to the wrist, getting thinner.

  6. Step 6: Fists

On the end of each arm, draw a round fist like the end of an egg, with a thumb bump.

  7. Step 7: Balance pole

Through both fists, draw a long pole: 2 lines close together, far past both fists, sagging at the ends.

  8. Step 8: Legs

From the leotard, draw each leg with 2 soft lines down to a thin ankle, leaning in.

  9. Step 9: Slippers

At the bottom of the legs, draw 2 pointy slippers, one in front of the other.

  10. Step 10: The tightrope

Draw a ground line and 2 tall posts. Dip a rope from one, under the feet, up to the other.

Tip Run the ground line along the bottom, nearly edge to edge.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink tights

Go over your lines. Colour the face, neck, arms and fists peach, the cheeks and tights pink.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow star, red leotard

Colour the star yellow. Colour the leotard and slippers red around the star.

  13. Step 13: Brown hair and pole

Colour the hair, bun, pole and posts brown. Done!
