How to Draw a Shot Put
Draw a shot put in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Step 2: The face
Low in the head draw 2 small eyes with black dots, a tiny U nose, a smile and 2 eyebrows.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start on the head's left, by the eyebrows. Draw soft round tufts over the top, ending on the right.
Tip Rub out the head line above the hair.
Step 4: Neck, t-shirt and bib
Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a t-shirt, ending at the right one. Add a chest bib.
Step 5: Arms
From each sleeve draw an arm: one reaching out, one folded at the elbow back to the shoulder.
Tip Add a fold line from the elbow tip to the shoulder. The other arm is for balance.
Step 6: Hands
Start at each wrist's top. Draw a fat egg fist and stop at the wrist's bottom. Add a finger line.
Step 7: The heavy ball
Under the chin, draw a big round ball pressed against the neck, from the chin round to the fist.
Tip Rub out the neck and shoulder lines inside the ball.
Step 8: Trousers and shoes
Start at the t-shirt's left end. Draw 2 trouser legs, ending at the right end. Add 2 shoes.
Step 9: The throwing circle
Round both shoes draw a long flat oval for the throwing circle. Its back edge goes behind the shoes.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the face, neck, arms and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Red shirt, navy trousers
Colour the t-shirt red, leaving the bib white, and the trousers navy.
Step 12: Grey ball, brown hair
Colour the heavy ball grey and the hair brown. Leave the sneakers white. Your shot putter is done.
