How to Draw an Asteroid
Draw an asteroid in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rock.
Step 1: The rock
In the middle of your paper, draw a big potato rock, wider than tall, with soft bumps and dips.
Tip An asteroid is a giant potato of rock floating in space.
Step 2: Big crater
High on the right of the rock, draw a big oval crater.
Step 3: Middle crater
Low on the left of the rock, draw a smaller oval crater.
Step 4: Little crater
Near the bottom right of the rock, draw a little crater.
Tip Keep the 3 craters different sizes and not in a row, like real holes in the rock.
Step 5: Big sparkle
In the top right corner, draw a big sparkle star with 4 points that dip in between.
Step 6: Little sparkles
Draw 2 small sparkle stars the same way, one top left and one bottom right.
Step 7: Far-away stars
Add 4 tiny dots in the empty space for far-away stars, not touching the rock.
Step 8: Yellow stars
Colour the 3 sparkle stars yellow.
Step 9: Grey rock
Colour the rock grey, going around the craters.
Step 10: Slate craters
Colour the 3 craters slate grey. Your asteroid is done!
