How to Draw a Dinosaur and Asteroid

Step 1: Head

Right of the middle draw an egg for the head, tipped up at the front.

Tip Leave room above for the sky and below for a big body.

Step 2: Eye and smile

Draw a big round eye with a black dot high in it. Add a long smile and a nostril.

Tip The dot sits high: the dinosaur is looking up.

Step 3: Long neck

Start behind the head. Draw a long line down to the left. Draw another from under the chin.

Tip The neck gets wider as it goes down.

Step 4: Back and tail

Start where the back neck line ends. Draw over a round hump and down a long tail to a point.

Step 5: Tummy

Start where the front neck line ends. Draw round the chest, under the tummy and along to the tail tip.

Step 6: Two fat legs

Draw 2 legs like tree trunks: a round top, a flat foot. Add 2 toe lines on each.

Tip Rub out the tummy line inside each leg.

Step 7: Far legs

Start under the body, ahead of each leg. Draw a leg stepping forward, and stop under the body.

Step 8: Ground

Start on the left. Draw a long ground line under the feet and stop on the right.

Step 9: Rock in the sky

High on the right draw a lumpy round rock. Add 3 small ovals for dents.

Step 10: Fiery tail

Start on top of the rock. Draw a long tail with 3 pointed flames, and stop under the rock.

Tip The tail flies out behind the rock, across the sky.

Step 11: Inner flame

Inside the tail draw a smaller flame with 2 points, from the rock and back to it.

Step 12: Yellow and orange

Colour the inner flame yellow. Colour the outer flame orange, around the yellow.

Step 13: Green dinosaur

Colour the head, neck, body, tail and 2 near legs green. Leave the eye and the far legs white.

Tip Press harder for 3 darker spots on the back.

Step 14: Dark green and grey

Colour the 2 far legs dark green. Colour the rock grey.
