How to Draw an Aspen Tree
Draw an aspen tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the leafy top.
Step 1: The leafy top
High up in the middle, draw a tall egg made of round bumps, a little wider at the bottom.
Tip Count 11 bumps, all about the same size.
Step 2: The trunk
Start under the leaves, left of the middle. Draw a line down to a curvy root. Same on the right.
Tip Keep the trunk slim. Aspens are tall and thin.
Step 3: Two branches
Start on the trunk below the leaves. Draw a thick branch curving up into the leaves. Same on the right.
Tip Rub out the trunk line inside each branch, so trunk and branch are one shape.
Step 4: Eye knots
Down the trunk draw 3 small knots shaped like eyes, one above the other.
Tip Each knot is a little oval with a point at both ends.
Step 5: Bark dashes
Between the knots draw 2 short thin dashes, one a little right and one a little left.
Step 6: The ground
Start well left of the tree. Draw a flat ground line under the roots, to well right.
Step 7: Grass blades
Start on the ground. Draw 2 short curved grass blades on each side of the trunk.
Step 8: Pale trunk
Go over your lines, then colour the trunk and both branches cream, going round the knots.
Step 9: Golden leaves
Colour the whole leafy top golden yellow, right up to the bumpy edge.
Step 10: Dark knots
Colour the 3 knots black. Your aspen tree is done!
