How to Draw an Army Truck
Draw an army truck in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: nose, cab and bed.
Step 1: Nose, cab and bed
Start low left. Go up round a stubby nose, over a tall cab, along a long bed. Stop low right.
Tip The bed is long: more than half of the truck.
Step 2: Belly and arch
From where you stopped, draw back under the bed, step down, then hop over an arch. Stop at the nose.
Tip Only the front wheel gets an arch. The back wheels go under the bed.
Step 3: Big headlight eye
On the hood draw a round headlight eye, about half as big as a tyre. Add a pupil and shine.
Tip Keep air all round the eye: it never touches the hood or the nose.
Step 4: Smile, cheek and bumper
Under the eye, draw a short U smile. Add an oval cheek beside it and a bumper on the nose.
Step 5: Three big tyres
Tuck 1 tyre into the arch and 2 under the bed. Add a small hub circle in each.
Tip The 2 back tyres sit side by side without touching.
Step 6: Canvas cover
Start on the bed behind the cab. Draw a tall cover with a round top. Stop at the back corner.
Tip The cover is a little taller than the cab, with a gap between them.
Step 7: Cover ribs
Draw 2 straight lines down the cover, from the top to the bed, to make 3 equal panels.
Step 8: Cab window
Inside the cab draw a big window. Keep a strip of cab between the window and the outline.
Step 9: Cab back and handle
Start where the bed meets the cab. Draw a line down. Stop at the bed's bottom. Add a pill handle.
Tip Now the cab and the bed are 2 separate boxes.
Step 10: A star
On the door under the window, draw a star with 5 points. Keep it clear of the handle.
Tip A plain star on the door shows it is an army truck.
Step 11: The road
Start under the bumper. Draw a straight road line under all 3 tyres, and stop past the back.
Tip The road just touches the bottoms of the tyres.
Step 12: Sky and pink
Colour the window sky blue, leaving a white shine. Colour the cheek pink.
Step 13: Grey bits, green cover
Colour the bumper, handle and hubs grey. Colour the canvas cover light green.
Step 14: Green truck, black tyres
Go over your lines. Colour the truck dark green around the star and eye, and the tyres black.
