How to Draw an Arms Crossed

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw an arms crossed in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle draw 2 round eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Add an eyebrow over each eye.

Tip Leave the eyes white, with a dark dot inside each one.

  3. Step 3: Soft hair cap

Start on the left by the eyebrows. Draw soft round tufts up over the head, ending level on the right.

Tip Round bumps like little clouds, not spikes.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one draw a T-shirt with sleeves, ending at the right.

  5. Step 5: First folded arm

From the left sleeve draw an arm down to a round elbow, then across the chest to a mitten hand.

Tip The arm gets thinner towards the wrist. Add 2 short finger lines on the hand.

  6. Step 6: Second folded arm

From the right sleeve draw the other arm down to its elbow, then across, tucked under the first arm.

Tip Its hand hides behind the first arm, so you only draw what peeks out.

  7. Step 7: Trousers

From the shirt's bottom left draw long trousers: down, across, up between the legs, down, and back to the shirt.

Tip The legs reach nearly to the bottom of the page.

  8. Step 8: Shoes

Under each trouser leg draw a shoe, toe pointing out: a rounded heel, a flat sole and a rounded toe.

  9. Step 9: Belt and ground

Draw a belt line across the top of the trousers. Draw a long ground line under the shoes.

  10. Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, neck and both arms peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Red shirt, blue trousers

Colour the T-shirt red around the arms, and the trousers blue.

  12. Step 12: Brown hair and shoes

Colour the hair and the shoes brown. Go over your lines and your drawing is done.
