How to Draw an Anglerfish
Draw an anglerfish in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: eye and blunt face.
Step 1: Eye and blunt face
Draw a huge round eye with a black dot. In front, start high, draw a big C and stop low.
Tip Make the eye really big. Leave lots of room on the right.
Step 2: Ball body
From the top of the C, curve over the eye and round to the back. Do the same underneath.
Tip Join the two lines with a tiny curve at the back.
Step 3: Big toothy mouth
From the face C, draw a top lip and a bottom lip that meet. Zigzag teeth along the top.
Tip Tall thin teeth, like little icicles.
Step 4: Glowing lure
Start on the head. Curve a stalk up and forward and stop. Add a ball with 3 short lines.
Tip The light hangs over the mouth.
Step 5: Bow-tie tail
From the back of the body, draw 2 fat round lobes like a bow tie. Add 2 short lines inside.
Step 6: Small top fin
Start on the back near the tail. Draw a small sail leaning back, stop on the back. Add 1 line.
Step 7: Gill
Behind the eye, draw one tall C from near the back to near the belly. Stop before each line.
Step 8: Side fin
Just behind the gill, draw a fat leaf lying on its side, pointing at the tail. Add 2 lines inside.
Step 9: Belly fin
Start on the belly. Draw a small round fin down and round, then stop on the belly further back.
Step 10: Sand and bubbles
Draw a long wavy sand line right across the bottom. Add 3 bubbles above the tail, the biggest on top.
Step 11: Navy body, red mouth
Colour the body dark navy blue, around the eye, the teeth and the side fin. Colour the mouth red.
Tip Leave the eye and the teeth white.
Step 12: Slate fins, sandy floor
Colour the tail and the 3 fins slate grey. Colour the floor under the sand line sandy.
Step 13: Yellow light, blue bubbles
Colour the ball light bright yellow so it glows. Colour the 3 bubbles light blue.
