How to Draw a Dog Eating

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a dog eating in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big soft head

On the left draw a big soft head, wider than tall, tipping down a little to the left.

Tip Leave room under it for the bowl, and on the right for the body.

  2. Step 2: Floppy ears

Draw a long floppy ear down the right side of the head. A small ear peeks out on the left.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the big ear.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

Above the middle of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots. Leave a white shine in each.

  4. Step 4: Snout and smile

Low on the left draw a snout poking past the head. From its black nose, draw down into a w.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.

  5. Step 5: Food bowl

Draw a ground line. Under the snout draw a bowl, wider at the bottom, with a band near the top.

  6. Step 6: Kibble and bone

Start left on the rim. Draw a bumpy kibble heap and stop on the right. Add a bone below.

Tip The snout dips into the food, so the bumps hide behind it.

  7. Step 7: Long back

Start behind the big ear. Draw a long back rising to a round bottom. Stop above the ground.

  8. Step 8: Front leg

From under the ear draw a leg down to a plump paw with 2 toes, then back up.

Tip The leg gets thinner near the paw.

  9. Step 9: Tummy and back leg

From the front leg draw the tummy. Then a round thigh down to a paw and up to the bottom.

Tip The back leg bends just above the paw.

  10. Step 10: Far legs

Under the tummy draw 2 more legs peeking out behind, each with a paw and 1 toe.

  11. Step 11: Wagging tail

From the top of the bottom draw a tail curving up to a round tip. Add 2 wag marks.

  12. Step 12: Cream and tan

Colour the snout cream. Colour the dog tan around it, but not the ears. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Brown ears and kibble

Colour both ears and the kibble brown.

  14. Step 14: Red bowl

Colour the bowl red, around the bone. Leave the bone white.
