How to Draw an Actor

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw an actor in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and ears

Draw an egg head near the top. Add a C ear each side, starting and stopping on the head.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 oval eyes with a black dot and a white shine. Add a tiny nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Soft hair cap

Start above the left ear and draw soft tufts over the head, stopping above the right ear. Add a hairline.

  4. Step 4: Neck and collar

Draw 2 short neck lines down from the chin. Add a collar band over their ends, open at the bottom.

  5. Step 5: The top

From the left of the collar, draw a top with round shoulders and a flat bottom, ending at the right.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder, draw a sleeve round the elbow to the wrist, then up the side, stopping at the armpit.

Tip Go over the side of the top, and rub out its shoulder line inside each sleeve.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

On the end of each sleeve, draw a mitten pointing in, with a little thumb bump on top.

  8. Step 8: Happy mask

Above the left hand draw a grinning mask with dark eyes. Add a stick from it into the hand.

  9. Step 9: Sad mask

Above the right hand draw another mask with a sad mouth. Add a stick from it into the hand.

  10. Step 10: Trousers

Start under the left sleeve. Draw 2 trouser legs down and back up, stopping under the right sleeve.

  11. Step 11: Shoes and ground

Under each leg draw a shoe with a round toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under the shoes.

  12. Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, ears, neck and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Yellow masks, grey trousers

Colour the masks yellow and the trousers grey.

  14. Step 14: Purple top, brown hair

Colour the collar, top and sleeves purple, the hair and sticks brown, and the shoes black. Done!
