How to Draw a Mountain Climber
Draw a mountain climber in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 small oval eyes. Add a tiny U nose and a smile.
Step 3: Climbing helmet
Draw a round helmet dome over the top of the head. Add a thin rim and a headlamp on the front.
Step 4: Neck and jacket
Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a jacket with long sleeves, round to the right one.
Tip Let each sleeve bend out a little at the elbow and get thinner at the wrist.
Step 5: Backpack and straps
Draw a backpack peeking out above both shoulders. Add 2 thin straps from the shoulders down to the hem.
Step 6: Fists
At the end of each sleeve draw a round fist with a little thumb pointing in.
Step 7: Rope coil
From the right shoulder draw a tilted oval coil across the chest, back to the start. Add 2 ovals inside.
Tip Rub out the jacket and strap lines inside the coil.
Step 8: Trousers and boots
From the hem's left end, draw trousers round to the right end. Add 2 tall boots, toes pointing out.
Tip Trousers have a tiny bend at the knee and a point between the legs.
Step 9: Ground and rock
Start at the left, draw a bumpy ground line under the boots and stop at the right. Add a rock.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck and fists peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange jacket, red helmet
Colour the jacket orange, around the straps and rope. Colour the helmet red, leaving the headlamp white.
Step 12: Green backpack, grey rock
Colour the backpack and the 2 straps green, and the rock grey.
Step 13: Navy trousers, brown boots
Colour the trousers navy, and the rope coil and the boots brown. Your climber is done!
