How to Draw an Acacia Tree

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an acacia tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the umbrella top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The umbrella top

Start near the left edge, above the middle. Draw a flat rainbow of small bumps, stopping near the right edge.

Tip Make it much wider than it is tall, like a flat umbrella.

  2. Step 2: The flat underside

Start where the rainbow ended. Draw 6 very shallow bumps back across to the left, until you meet the start.

  3. Step 3: The trunk

Start under the umbrella, left of the middle. Draw a line down to a curvy root. Do the right too.

  4. Step 4: Three branches

From the top of the trunk draw 3 branches fanning up into the leaves: left, straight up and right.

Tip Make each branch get thinner as it reaches the leaves.

  5. Step 5: Two twigs

Halfway up each side branch, start on its top edge and draw a thin twig up into the leaves.

  6. Step 6: Knot and bark

In the middle of the trunk draw a small egg knot hole, with a short bark dash above and below.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Draw a long line under the roots for the ground: start well left of the tree and stop well right.

  8. Step 8: Grass tufts

Beside the roots, start on the ground and draw 2 or 3 short grass blades up each side.

  9. Step 9: Green umbrella

Colour the whole umbrella of leaves green, right up to the bumpy edges.

  10. Step 10: Wood trunk

Colour the trunk, branches, twigs and knot hole wood brown. Go over your lines and your acacia is done!
