How to Draw a Zebra Shark

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a zebra shark in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round snout.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round snout

On the left, below the middle, start high and draw a big C snout, stopping under your start.

  2. Step 2: One big eye

Behind the nose, draw 1 big round eye. Fill most of it with a black dot, leaving a white shine.

  3. Step 3: Low back, 2 fins

Start at the top of the snout. Draw a long low back with 2 small fins, stopping in the middle.

Tip Stop the back in the middle: the tail needs the whole right half.

  4. Step 4: Long tail

Start at the end of the back. Draw a long low tail to a point on the right, then back.

Tip A zebra shark's tail is as long as the rest of it.

  5. Step 5: Tummy and mouth

Start at the chin, draw a gentle sag up to the tail. Add a small smile low on the snout.

  6. Step 6: Gills and tummy stripe

Behind the eye, draw 3 short curves. Under the smile, draw a long curve from the chin to the tail.

  7. Step 7: Side fin

Start on the stripe behind the gills. Draw a rounded fin sweeping back and down, back to the stripe.

  8. Step 8: Spots in rows

Draw 3 spots along the back, 3 more below them, and 2 on the tail.

Tip Grown-up zebra sharks are covered in leopard spots.

  9. Step 9: Sand and bubbles

Draw a long wavy sand line under the shark. Draw 3 bubbles floating up above the nose.

  10. Step 10: Cream tummy, sandy floor

Colour the tummy under the stripe cream, but not the side fin. Colour the floor under the sand line sandy.

  11. Step 11: Blue bubbles

    Colour the bubbles light blue.

  12. Step 12: Colour the shark tan

Colour everything above the stripe tan: head, back, fins and the long tail. Leave the eye and spots white.

  13. Step 13: Brown spots

Go over your lines and colour every spot brown. Your zebra shark is done!
