How to Draw an American Eskimo Dog
Draw an American eskimo dog in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.
Step 1: Big soft head
Near the top of your paper draw a big soft head, wider than tall, like a bun.
Tip Make it big: about half of the whole dog. Leave room on top for ears.
Step 2: Pointed ears
On each top corner draw a tall ear standing straight up to a soft point. Add a line inside.
Step 3: Dark eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 egg eyes a gap apart. Fill each with black, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes draw a small round snout. Sit a black rounded triangle nose at its top.
Step 5: Happy smile
From the nose draw a short line down, then a smile curving up to each side. Hang a U tongue.
Step 6: Fluffy ruff
Start beside one eye. Draw 9 fluffy bumps down, round under the chin and up the other side.
Tip This thick ruff of fur is like a little lion's mane.
Step 7: Round body
From under the ruff draw a curved side down each way. Join them with a sagging line.
Step 8: Front legs
From under the ruff draw 2 front legs side by side. Each gets thinner, then ends in a round paw.
Tip Draw 2 short toe lines on each paw.
Step 9: Back paws
At each bottom corner of the body draw a round back paw like a hill, with 2 toe lines.
Step 10: Curled plume tail
From the right hip draw a big fluffy tail: bumps up the outside, then curl the tip back in.
Tip An Eskie carries its tail curled up over its back.
Step 11: The ground
Start on the left. Draw a long straight ground line under the paws. Stop on the right.
Step 12: Snowy white fur
Colour all the fur white, or leave it snowy white. Keep the eyes white too.
Step 13: Pink ears and tongue
Colour the inside of each ear pink and the tongue pink. Go over your lines!
