How to Draw a Yo-Yo
Draw a yo-yo in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the disc.
Step 1: The disc
Below the middle, a little left, draw one big round circle. Leave room above it for the string.
Tip One smooth round sweep: a yo-yo is a real circle.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the circle, draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with black dots and shines.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from the left eye to the right. Add cheeks at each end.
Step 4: The inner ring
Inside the circle, draw a second circle a finger in, round the face, so the yo-yo has a thick rim.
Step 5: The other half
Start on top of the circle. Draw a C round the right side, stopping at the bottom. Add another C.
Tip Keep the first C close to the circle. The thin slice between them is the gap.
Step 6: The string
Start where the front circle meets the first C. Draw a long line straight up, stopping near the top.
Step 7: Finger loop
At the top of the string, draw a small oval loop for your finger to go through.
Step 8: Spin marks
Near the top left of the yo-yo, draw 2 short curved marks that follow its edge, like it is spinning.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the yo-yo: 4 dots like a plus sign joined with curves that dip in.
Step 10: Yellow stars
Colour the sparkle stars yellow.
Step 11: Cream middle, pink cheeks
Colour the middle circle cream, going round the face, and the cheeks pink. Keep the eyes white.
Step 12: Red halves, black gap
Colour the rim around the middle and the far half red, the thin gap black. Your yo-yo is done!
