How to Draw a Yin-Yang

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a yin-yang in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big circle.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big circle

In the middle draw one big round circle, as big as your hand.

  2. Step 2: The top curve

Start at the top of the circle. Draw a C down the left side and stop at the centre.

  3. Step 3: The bottom curve

Start at the centre. Draw a backwards C down the right and stop at the bottom. That makes an S!

  4. Step 4: The top dot

In the middle of the top half draw a small round dot.

  5. Step 5: The bottom dot

In the middle of the bottom half draw a slightly smaller round dot.

Tip Keep it a little smaller: once it is coloured black it looks as big as the top dot.

  6. Step 6: The outer ring

Around the big circle draw a second circle, a finger out, all the way round.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles

Draw a small sparkle star near each corner of the page: 4 points joined by curves that dip in.

  8. Step 8: Yellow ring

Colour the outer ring and the 4 sparkles yellow.

  9. Step 9: Black half

Colour the right swirl black, the side that is fat at the top. Go round the dot in it.

  10. Step 10: White half, black dot

Leave the left swirl white and colour the dot inside it black. Your yin-yang is done!
