How to Draw a Wrasse
Draw a wrasse in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long pointed body.
Step 1: Long pointed body
Draw small lips on the left. From them draw a long slim body, ending at a short neck far right.
Tip A wrasse is long and slim, 3 times longer than it is tall.
Step 2: Big eye
High up, a finger behind the lips, draw one big round eye with a black dot and a shine.
Step 3: Fan tail
Start at the top of the neck. Draw a rounded fan tail, ending at the bottom of the neck.
Tip The tail is a rounded fan, not a forked bow tie.
Step 4: Long back fin
Start on the back above the eye. Draw one long low fin along the back, stopping just before the neck.
Tip One long low ribbon of fin is the wrasse's special look.
Step 5: Low belly fin
Start on the belly under the middle. Draw a matching low fin along the belly, stopping just before the neck.
Step 6: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye draw a short C gill. Behind that draw a small sideways leaf for the side fin.
Step 7: One long stripe
Start high on the gill. Draw one long gentle stripe back along the body, stopping before the neck.
Step 8: Bubbles
In front of the lips draw 3 bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 9: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line almost edge to edge. Add 2 pointy seaweed blades on the left, 1 right.
Step 10: Sand and bubbles
Colour the floor under the sand line sandy, and the bubbles light blue.
Step 11: Orange fins
Colour the tail, the long back fin, the belly fin and the side fin orange.
Step 12: Green seaweed
Colour the 3 seaweed blades green.
Step 13: Green fish
Colour the body and lips green, around the orange side fin. Leave the eye white.
