How to Draw a Wolf Lying Down

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a wolf lying down in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

On the left, draw a big dome for the head. Add 3 fur tufts each side and a round chin.

Tip Leave room on the right for the long body.

  2. Step 2: Ears and crest

On each top corner draw a wide round-tipped ear with a triangle inside. Add 3 fur points between the ears.

  3. Step 3: Eyes and brows

Below the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a short brow above each.

Tip Open eyes: this wolf is resting, not asleep.

  4. Step 4: Snout and nose

Under the eyes draw a big teardrop snout past the chin. Add a black triangle nose and a w smile.

Tip A wolf's snout is broad, with a big nose.

  5. Step 5: Front paws

Draw a ground line. Under the chin draw 2 wide mitten paws side by side, flat on the ground.

Tip The chin rests on the paws, so the wolf is lying down.

  6. Step 6: Lying body

Start behind the head, level with the eyes. Draw a long low back, curving down to the ground.

Tip The body is lower than the head and about as long as 2 heads.

  7. Step 7: Back leg

Draw a bun paw on the ground. Start on the back and curve a thigh down, stopping on the paw.

Tip The back paw points towards the front legs.

  8. Step 8: Bushy tail

From low on the bottom, draw a fat tail along the ground, curling up to a soft point.

Tip Fat all the way, with a soft point at the top.

  9. Step 9: Toes

Draw 2 short toe lines on each front paw and 2 on the back paw.

  10. Step 10: Whiskers

Start on each edge of the snout by the nose. Draw 2 short whiskers out, stopping before the fur tufts.

  11. Step 11: Cream snout

Colour the snout and the inside of each ear cream.

  12. Step 12: Grey fur

Go over your lines. Colour the head, ears, body, paws and tail grey. Leave the eyes white.
