How to Draw a Macaque

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a macaque in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with full cheeks.

Tip Make it big: half the whole monkey. Leave room for ears.

  2. Step 2: Big round ears

On each side of the head draw a big C ear bulging out, with a smaller C inside.

  3. Step 3: Heart face and eyes

Inside the head draw a big sideways heart. Put a big eye with a black dot in each bump.

  4. Step 4: Nose and smile

Add 2 nostril dots. Start under the left eye and draw a wide U smile, stopping under the right eye.

  5. Step 5: Body and tummy

Start on each cheek. Draw a C down for the body, stopping a hand below. Add an oval tummy.

Tip The body is narrower than the head: it fits between the ears.

  6. Step 6: The hot spring

From the left edge of your paper draw a wavy water line below the tummy, stopping at the right edge.

  7. Step 7: Arm in the water

From under the right cheek draw a round shoulder and bent arm down into the water.

Tip The arm disappears into the water: no hand to draw.

  8. Step 8: Other arm

From under the left cheek draw the other shoulder and arm the same way, down into the water.

  9. Step 9: Steam

Just above the water near each edge, draw a short wavy S of steam, stopping lower than the shoulders.

  10. Step 10: Hair tuft

On top of the head draw 3 soft hill bumps of hair, starting and stopping on the head line.

  11. Step 11: Pink face

Colour the face, the inside of the ears and the tummy pink. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Colour the fur grey

Colour the head, ears, body and arms light grey around the pink parts, stopping at the water line.

  13. Step 13: Blue water

Colour the water light blue, from the wavy line down to the bottom of the paper.
