How to Draw a Witch on a Broom
Draw a witch on a broom in 15 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a bit narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room above for the hat and below for the skirt and broom.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the face draw 2 big round eyes. Give each a black pupil with a white shine.
Step 3: Nose and smile
Under the eyes draw a tiny U nose, then a smile about as wide as the space between the eyes.
Step 4: Hair streaming back
Draw hair over the head with a fringe. From the right side sweep a long wavy point blowing back.
Step 5: Tall pointed hat
Draw a flat oval brim on the head. From its left draw a tall floppy cone, down to its right.
Tip The cone is as tall as the head, with the tip flopping right.
Step 6: Neck and dress top
Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a dress top with round shoulders, ending at the right one.
Step 7: Arms and fists
From each shoulder draw a sleeve that gets thinner, ending in a round fist, one reaching forward, one hanging down.
Tip Bend each arm a little at the elbow. The broom handle will pass through both fists.
Step 8: Seated skirt
Under the dress draw a skirt with a knee bump on the left and a hem sloping down right.
Tip She sits on the broom, so the hem slopes down toward the back.
Step 9: Hanging legs and shoes
From under the knee draw a leg hanging down, with 3 stripes and a shoe. Add the far leg behind.
Step 10: Broomstick and bristles
Under the skirt draw a long thin broomstick from low right up to the left edge. Add bristles.
Tip The stick passes behind the leg and both fists, so they close round it.
Step 11: Moon and stars
Top right, draw a crescent moon. Add 2 fat stars, one on each side of the hat.
Step 12: Two clouds
Under the broom draw 2 little clouds, each with 3 bumps on top and a flat bottom.
Step 13: Peach skin, yellow moon
Colour the face, neck, fists and legs peach, and the moon, stars and bristles yellow.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Pink cheeks, ginger hair
Colour the cheeks pink, and the hair and the long streaming ponytail ginger.
Step 15: Purple dress, brown broom
Colour the hat, dress, sleeves and skirt purple, and the broomstick and shoes brown. Your witch is done!
