How to Draw a Kid with an Umbrella
Draw a kid with an umbrella in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.
Tip Draw the head a little lower than usual: the umbrella needs room above.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 small oval eyes. Add a U nose, a smile and eyebrows.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start on the left of the head by the eyes. Draw round tufts over the top, stop on the right.
Step 4: Neck and raincoat
Draw 2 short neck lines. From the left one draw a raincoat, left sleeve lifted, back to the right one.
Step 5: Arms and fists
From the left sleeve draw a bent arm straight up to the wrist. From the right sleeve, an arm down.
Tip The left fist will hold the umbrella.
Step 6: Legs, boots and ground
Start on the hem and draw 2 short legs down to the boots. Add tall boots and a ground line.
Step 7: Umbrella canopy
High above the head draw a wide dome with 5 bumps along the bottom. Add 4 rib lines.
Tip The canopy is wider than the kid, so the rain can't reach them.
Step 8: Umbrella shaft
From the middle of the canopy draw 2 close lines straight down to the top of the left fist.
Step 9: Rain and a puddle
Draw 7 little teardrop raindrops on both sides of the umbrella. Round the boots draw a long flat oval puddle.
Step 10: Yellow raincoat and boots
Colour the raincoat, its sleeves and the rain boots yellow.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, fists and legs peach, with pink cheeks.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 12: Blue rain and puddle
Colour the raindrops and the puddle sky blue.
Step 13: Red umbrella, brown hair
Colour the canopy red, then the shaft and the hair brown. Go over your lines and you are done.
