How to Draw a Wilted Rose
Draw a wilted rose in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bent stem.
Step 1: Bent stem
Draw a tall stem, 2 lines wide, that bends over at the top like a walking stick.
Tip Make the bend big and round, so the flower has room to hang.
Step 2: The hanging cup
At the stem's tip, draw a tipped-over cup: a round bottom on the stem and a curved rim below.
Step 3: Swirl bud
On the middle of the rim, draw a swirl, 2 whole turns, getting wider, until it touches the rim.
Step 4: Petals round the bud
From the rim on each side of the swirl, draw a big C over it to touch its far side.
Step 5: Two big petals
From each cup wall near the rim, draw a big petal out and over, stopping on the bud.
Step 6: A petal behind
Start on one big petal's end. Draw a rainbow behind the bud, stopping on the other petal's end.
Step 7: A petal fold
Start at one rim corner. Draw a soft curve sagging across the cup, stopping at the other rim corner.
Step 8: Pointy leaves
Where the cup meets the stem, draw 2 pointy leaves like little triangles, one each side.
Step 9: Droopy leaves
Draw a fat leaf hanging down from each side of the stem. Add a middle line in each.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line under the stem, stopping near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 11: Fallen petals
Under the flower, draw 2 little petals lying on the ground, each round with one soft point.
Step 12: Red rose
Colour the whole flower red: the cup, the swirl bud and every petal. Colour the fallen petals red too.
Step 13: Green stem and leaves
Colour the 2 pointy leaves, the stem and both droopy leaves green. Your wilted rose is done!
