How to Draw a Willow Tree
Draw a willow tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the leafy top.
Step 1: The leafy top
High on your paper, start on the left. Draw 4 big soft bumps up and over, stopping at the top.
Step 2: The other side
Start where you stopped. Draw 4 more bumps down the right side, stopping level with where you began.
Step 3: 2 hanging fingers
From the right end, draw a long finger ending in 3 leafy points, then another. Stop right of the middle.
Step 4: 2 more fingers
Start where you stopped. Draw a shallow dip across the middle, then 2 more leafy fingers, ending on the left.
Step 5: The trunk
From the middle dip draw a line down, curving into a root. Stop near the bottom. Do the right too.
Step 6: Drooping strands
In each hanging finger, draw 2 slim strands, from near the top down to the gaps between the points.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a long ground line under the roots: start well left of the tree and stop well right of it.
Step 8: Grass tufts
Under each side of the tree, start on the ground, draw 3 pointed grass blades, and stop on the ground.
Step 9: Green leaves
Colour the whole leafy top green, bumps and hanging fingers, going round the trunk.
Step 10: Trunk and grass
Colour the trunk wood brown and the grass tufts dark green. Go over your lines and your willow is done!
