How to Draw a Wheat Sheaf
Draw a wheat sheaf in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the band.
Step 1: The band
In the middle of your paper draw a small box lying sideways for the band that ties the sheaf.
Tip A sheaf is a bundle of wheat tied round its waist.
Step 2: Stalks above
From the band's top draw 5 stalks fanning out, each thinning to a point, the middle one straight up.
Step 3: Stalks below
From the bottom of the band draw 5 thin stalks spreading down and out to the ground.
Step 4: The middle head
Above the middle stalk draw a pointed grain, then 3 snug pairs of grains under it, down to the stalk.
Tip Tuck each pair of grains behind the grains above it, so the head looks like a plait.
Step 5: Two more heads
Draw the same head of grains above the 2 stalks next to the middle one.
Step 6: Outer heads
Draw a head of grains above the 2 outer stalks too.
Step 7: Tip whiskers
From the pointed top grain of each head draw one thin whisker, pointing the same way as the head.
Step 8: Side whiskers
From the 2 top side grains of each head draw a thin whisker fanning up and out.
Step 9: The ground
Draw the ground line from the left edge to the right edge, through the bottoms of the lower stalks.
Step 10: Yellow stalks
Go over your lines, then colour all 10 stalks yellow.
Step 11: Tan grains
Colour every grain on all 5 heads tan.
Step 12: Brown band
Colour the band brown, and your wheat sheaf is done!
