How to Draw a Circus Elephant

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a circus elephant in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big soft head

Near the top draw a big soft head, like an egg lying on its side.

Tip Leave lots of room at the sides for the ears.

  2. Step 2: Huge fan ears

On each side of the head draw a huge round ear. Draw a smaller ear shape inside each one.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

Draw 2 big oval eyes, far apart. Add a black dot and a white shine in each.

  4. Step 4: Raised trunk

Between the eyes draw a long trunk. It hangs down, swings left, then lifts up high to a round tip.

Tip The trunk gets thinner towards its tip.

  5. Step 5: Smile and wrinkles

Draw a smile from each side of the trunk towards the cheeks. Draw 2 short lines across the trunk.

  6. Step 6: Headdress

On top of the head draw a little cap that comes down to a point. Add a round jewel.

  7. Step 7: Front legs

From under the chin draw 2 fat legs straight down. Give each a wide flat foot.

Tip The legs get a little wider at the feet.

  8. Step 8: Round stand

Under the feet draw a flat oval. Draw a side down from each end and join them with a smile.

Tip The stand is a little wider at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: Body and back feet

Draw a ground line. From under each ear draw the body down to a back foot on the ground.

Tip Start under the ear and stop at the stand.

  10. Step 10: Toenails

Draw 3 little bump toenails on each front foot and 2 on each back foot.

  11. Step 11: Stripe and star

Start on the stand's left side. Draw a smile across to the right side. Draw a star below it.

  12. Step 12: Pink and yellow

Colour the insides of the ears pink. Colour the jewel, the stripe and the star yellow.

  13. Step 13: Red

Colour the headdress red, around the jewel. Colour the rest of the stand red, around the star.

  14. Step 14: Grey elephant

Go over your lines. Colour the elephant grey. Leave its eyes and toenails white.
