How to Draw a Watermill
Draw a watermill in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the mill house.
Step 1: The mill house
On the left draw a house shape with a pointed top. Add a roof that sticks out past both walls.
Step 2: The door
At the bottom of the house, left of the middle, draw a tall arched door standing on the bottom line.
Step 3: Two windows
Draw a square window with a cross, up and right of the door, and a smaller one under the roof.
Step 4: The big wheel
Against the right wall draw a big wheel circle, its bottom below the house. Add a smaller circle inside.
Tip A stream pushes the paddles to turn the big wooden wheel.
Step 5: Hub and spokes
Draw a small hub circle in the middle. From the hub draw 8 straight spokes out to the inner circle.
Step 6: Paddles
Round the outside of the big circle draw 12 short paddle boards sticking out, spaced evenly all the way round.
Step 7: The bank
From each bottom corner of the house draw a straight bank line out to the edge of your paper.
Step 8: The stream
Below the bank draw a wavy water line from edge to edge of your paper, hidden behind the wheel.
Step 9: The sun
In the top right corner draw a small sun circle with 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: Yellow sun, grey house
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the house stone grey, around the door, the windows and the wheel.
Step 11: Green bank, blue stream
Colour the bank green and the stream blue, around the wheel. Leave between the spokes white.
Step 12: Brown roof and wheel
Colour the roof dark brown, the door and wheel light brown. Go over your lines, and your watermill is done!
