How to Draw a Fusilli

Draw a fusilli in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.

Step 1: The rim
A little below the middle, draw a wide flat oval about a hand wide, for the top of the bowl.
Step 2: The bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a big U down and up to the right end.
Step 3: The foot
Under the bowl, start on the bottom left. Go down a little, across, and up to the bottom right.
Step 4: The sauce
Inside the rim, draw a second flat oval a finger in, for the sauce under the fusilli.
Step 5: Two bumpy fusilli
On the sauce draw 2 long shapes with bumpy edges, like fat caterpillars, leaning together like a tent.
Tip Each one has 4 bumps on top, 4 below and round ends. Rub out the oval lines inside them.
Step 6: One in front
In front, in the middle, draw 1 more bumpy shape lying almost flat.
Tip Rub out the oval lines inside it.
Step 7: Twist the left one
On the left fusilli draw slanted lines across, each from a dip on top to a dip below.
Tip The slanted lines make the pasta look twisted like a corkscrew.
Step 8: Twist the right one
Do the same on the right fusilli: slanted lines from each top dip to a bottom dip.
Step 9: Twist the front one
Now twist the front fusilli too, with 5 slanted lines all leaning the same way.
Step 10: A stripe and steam
Draw a bowed stripe round the bowl under the rim, from left to right. Add 2 wiggly steam lines above.
Step 11: The table
Draw a long line under the foot, just touching its bottom.
Step 12: Yellow fusilli
Go over your lines. Colour all 3 fusilli yellow.
Step 13: Red sauce
Colour the sauce red, around the fusilli.
Step 14: Blue stripe, white bowl
Colour the band between the stripe and the rim blue and leave the rest of the bowl white.
