How to Draw a Water Turtle
Draw a water turtle in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big shell dome.
Step 1: Big shell dome
In the middle of your paper, draw a big dome like an upside-down bowl, with a flat bottom.
Tip Leave room on the left for the head.
Step 2: Round head
Left of the shell and a bit lower, draw a round head, a little wider than tall.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw 2 big eyes with dots and shines in the top half of the head. Add nostrils and a smile.
Step 4: Shell rim
From the shell's front corner, draw a band under the shell with round ends, stopping at the back corner.
Step 5: Short neck
Join the back of the head to the shell with 2 short lines, one on top and one below.
Tip That makes a short, thick neck.
Step 6: Front legs
Under the front of the rim, draw a stumpy leg with a round foot. Add a far leg peeking behind.
Step 7: Back legs
Under the back of the rim, draw another stumpy leg. Add a far leg peeking out towards the middle.
Step 8: Pointy tail
From the back end of the rim, draw a short tail that ends in a point.
Step 9: Shell pattern
In the middle of the shell, draw a big oval plate. Draw 4 lines from it out to the edge.
Step 10: The ground
Draw one long ground line under all the feet, from under the head to under the tail tip.
Step 11: Cream rim
Go over your lines. Colour the rim cream.
Step 12: Green skin
Colour the head, neck, tail and the 2 near legs green. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Brown shell
Colour the shell brown and the 2 far legs dark green.
