How to Draw a Violin Player
Draw a violin player in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, left of the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room on the right for the violin.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 oval eyes with black dots, and a smile. Add a C ear on each side of the head.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start by the left ear. Draw 5 soft tufts over the head, stop at the right ear. Add a fringe.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.
Step 4: The violin
From under the chin, draw a long figure 8 pointing right, with 4 small corners. Add 2 curved lines.
Tip The fat end tucks under the chin. The 2 curved lines are its sound holes.
Step 5: The violin's neck
From the violin draw a long thin neck, a small box and a round scroll. Add 4 pegs.
Tip The neck starts on the violin's body and runs out to the right.
Step 6: Collar and shirt
Under the chin, draw a U collar. Then draw the shirt: 2 shoulders, 2 sides and a flat bottom.
Tip The violin hides one shoulder.
Step 7: Arm under the violin
Start under the violin. Draw a sleeve, then an arm bending at the elbow up to a hand.
Tip The hand is a mitten wrapped round the violin's neck, with 2 finger lines.
Step 8: The bow arm
From the left shoulder draw a sleeve, an arm down to an elbow, then across to a mitten hand.
Tip This arm bends at the elbow like a letter L.
Step 9: The bow
From that hand, draw a long thin stick up across the violin, past its top edge.
Tip The bow rubs the strings to make the sound.
Step 10: Trousers and shoes
Start at the shirt's left corner, draw 2 trouser legs, stop at the right corner. Add shoes and the ground.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck, arms and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Red shirt, blue trousers
Colour the shirt and both sleeves red. Colour the trousers blue.
Step 13: Wood and tan
Colour the violin's body, box and scroll wood brown. Colour the bow tan.
Step 14: Black and brown
Colour the hair and the violin's neck black. Colour the shoes brown. Go over your lines to finish.
