How to Draw a Vintage Truck

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a vintage truck in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: hood, cab and bed.

Print

  1. Step 1: Hood, cab and bed

Start low left. Go up, along the hood, over the cab, along the bed, and stop low right.

Tip The cab is a tall box with a flat front, like a phone booth.

  2. Step 2: Two humped fenders

Over each wheel spot draw a fat rainbow band standing out from the body, closed at both ends.

  3. Step 3: Big headlight eye

On the side of the hood draw a big headlamp eye. Colour a pupil in it, leaving a white dot.

  4. Step 4: Tyres and belly

Draw a fat tyre with a hub under each fender. From the front, a belly line back to the bed.

  5. Step 5: Smile, cheek and cap

Draw a cheek under the eye. Start beside it, draw a U smile ending near the front. Add a cap.

  6. Step 6: Two windows

Inside the cab draw 2 tall windows: a flat windscreen in front and a narrower side window behind.

  7. Step 7: Wooden sides

Start by the cab. Draw a rail up, along, down to the bed. Add 3 posts and a middle rail.

Tip Like a little fence on the back, for hay and crates.

  8. Step 8: Running board and handle

Between the fenders draw a flat plank under the body, for climbing in. Add a pill handle on the door.

  9. Step 9: Road, pipe and shine

Start in front. Draw a road line under both tyres, stopping past the bed. Add a pipe and a shine.

  10. Step 10: Yellow lamp, grey bits

Colour the headlamp yellow around the pupil. Colour the handle, pipe and hubs grey.

  11. Step 11: Wood sides, sky windows

Colour the wooden sides, running board and cap wood brown. Colour both windows sky blue, leaving the shine white.

  12. Step 12: Colour the truck red

Colour the cheek pink. Colour the hood, cab and bed red, around the windows, eye, cheek and handle.

  13. Step 13: Black fenders and tyres

Colour the fenders and tyres black, going around the grey hubs. Add a black dot in each hub.
