How to Draw a Hot Dog Cart
Draw a hot dog cart in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the box.
Step 1: The box
Above the middle draw a long deep box with soft corners, a little wider at the top, like a tray.
Tip It is nearly 3 times as wide as it is tall.
Step 2: The rim
Start on the front wall a finger under the top. Draw one line straight across, stop on the back wall.
Step 3: The handle
Start on the left wall under the rim. Draw a sloping C-shaped bar out and back to the wall.
Tip It is a push handle, so it tilts up a little.
Step 4: The umbrella
From the middle of the top draw a tall pole up. Add a big dome on top with 6 bumps.
Tip Add a dot on top and 2 curved rib lines.
Step 5: 2 fat wheels
Under the box draw 2 big round wheels, one near each end, hanging a little below. Add a middle dot.
Step 6: Wheel holders
Start on the box bottom above a wheel. Draw 2 short lines slanting in, stop on the wheel. Repeat.
Step 7: The bun
On the box side draw 2 long flat bun pills, one above the other, with a gap between.
Step 8: The sausage
Draw a long sausage behind the bun, with a round end poking out past each side.
Step 9: The ground
Start a little left of the cart. Draw a straight line touching both wheels' bottoms, stop past the cart.
Step 10: Yellow box, tan bun
Colour the box yellow around the hot dog. Add wavy yellow mustard on the sausage. Colour the bun tan.
Step 11: Red umbrella, wood rim
Colour the umbrella, its pole and the sausage red, around the mustard. Colour the rim wood brown.
Step 12: Grey handle, black wheels
Colour the handle, wheel holders and wheel middles grey. Colour both wheels black, around the grey middles.
