How to Draw a Vine Snake
Draw a vine snake in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
In the top left draw a long pointed head like a big arrowhead pointing down, with wide cheeks.
Tip A vine snake's head is a spear, not an egg.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
Above the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 3: Nostrils and smile
Between the eyes and the point dot 2 tiny nostrils. Below them draw a gentle smile from side to side.
Step 4: The forked tongue
From the sharp point draw a thin tongue poking straight down, with a tiny V fork at the end.
Tip Keep it skinny like a thread, clear of the body.
Step 5: The vine
Well below the head draw a long thin vine, 2 wavy lines with round ends, stopping short of the edges.
Step 6: A pencil-thin body
From the head's top draw a thin tube that arches onto the vine, runs along it and hangs down.
Tip Keep it as thin as a pencil, and rub out the head line where the neck joins.
Step 7: 5 leaves
Along the vine draw 5 pointed leaves with their stalks on the vine: 3 pointing up and 2 down.
Step 8: Green snake
Go over your lines, then colour the head and the whole thin body leaf green, leaving the eyes white.
Step 9: Wood vine
Colour the vine wood brown around the snake, and the tongue red.
Step 10: Green leaves
Colour the 5 leaves a darker green. Your vine snake is done!
