How to Draw a Giant Clam
Draw a giant clam in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wavy bottom shell.
Step 1: Wavy bottom shell
In the middle, a little low, draw a deep bowl shell. Make its top rim 4 big soft waves.
Tip Big soft waves like a pie crust, never zigzag teeth.
Step 2: Wavy top shell
Draw a dome shell above with 4 waves along its bottom. From each end curve down, stopping at the bowl.
Tip The gap between the wavy lips is where the soft body shows.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the top shell, above its middle, draw 2 big egg eyes one eye apart, with a dot and shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a sideways oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Fan of ribs
From the hinge at the bottom of the bowl draw 5 lines fanning up to the wavy rim.
Step 6: Bubbles
Up on the left draw 3 round bubbles floating up in a gentle curve, each bigger than the last.
Step 7: Sand line
Draw one long wavy sand line from side to side under the bowl.
Step 8: Seaweed
Stand a tall wavy seaweed leaf on the sand line at each side of the clam.
Step 9: Pink cheeks, tan shells
Colour the cheeks pink, then both shells tan around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Sand and bubbles
Colour the sand under the sand line sandy yellow and the bubbles light blue.
Step 11: Green seaweed, blue mantle
Colour the seaweed green and the gap between the wavy rims bright blue. Your giant clam is done!
