How to Draw a Vermont Flag
Draw a vermont flag in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pole and ground.
Step 1: Pole and ground
Draw a tall thin pole on the left, a ball on top, and a ground line from edge to edge.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Draw a wavy top edge, a straight right side, a wavy bottom edge.
Tip The bottom edge copies the top edge.
Step 3: The shield
In the middle of the flag draw a shield: a flat top, 2 straight sides, a curve to a point.
Step 4: Grassy hill
Low in the shield draw a gentle hill line. Start on the left side and stop on the right side.
Step 5: Pine tree
Above the hill draw a pine tree: a point on top, 3 zigzag steps down each side, a flat bottom.
Tip Make each step a little wider than the one above.
Step 6: Tree trunk
Start under the middle of the tree. Draw 2 short lines down and stop on the hill.
Step 7: The ribbon
Across the shield's point draw a long curved ribbon. Cut a small V notch into each end.
Tip The real ribbon says VERMONT. Write it on yours if you like.
Step 8: Two pine branches
From the ribbon draw a curved branch up each side of the shield. End each in a point.
Tip The real badge also has a cow, wheat and a deer's head. Here the pine tree does the job.
Step 9: Yellow ball, grey pole
Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.
Step 10: Yellow shield
Colour the top of the shield yellow, above the hill, going around the tree and its trunk.
Step 11: Green pine and grass
Colour the pine tree, the grassy hill and the 2 branches green.
Step 12: Brown trunk, red ribbon
Colour the trunk brown and the ribbon red.
Step 13: Blue flag
Colour the flag blue, going around the badge. Go over your lines. Your Vermont flag is waving!
