How to Draw a Vampire Squid
Draw a vampire squid in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall round body.
Step 1: Tall round body
Near the top of your paper, draw a tall egg body, a little wider near the bottom.
Step 2: Two ear fins
High on each side of the body, draw an ear fin: out, round the tip and back to the body.
Tip The fins flap like little ears to push the squid along.
Step 3: Huge eyes
Low on the body, draw 2 huge round eyes close together. Add a black dot and shine in each.
Tip Vampire squid eyes are the biggest in the animal world for their size.
Step 4: Little smile
Start under the left eye. Draw a small U smile and stop under the right eye.
Step 5: Cloak of arms
Start low on the body's left side. Draw a wide cloak with 8 hem points, back to the right side.
Tip The arms are joined by a web, so they hang like a cloak.
Step 6: Arm lines
Start under the body. Draw 6 arm lines fanning down, each stopping at one of the middle points.
Step 7: Bubbles
On the left, draw 3 bubbles floating up: a small one, a middle one and a big one.
Step 8: Seabed
Start near the left edge. Draw a seabed line under the squid and stop near the right edge.
Step 9: Blue eyes, sandy floor
Colour the eyes and bubbles light blue, around the black dots. Colour the seabed sandy yellow.
Step 10: Red squid
Colour the body, the ear fins and the cloak red, around the eyes. Your vampire squid is done!
