How to Draw a Grasshopper
Draw a grasshopper in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big egg head.
Step 1: Big egg head
Near the top left, draw a big egg for the head. Leave lots of room on the right.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Above the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide open smile like a half moon. Add a round cheek beside each corner.
Step 4: Long feelers
Start on top of the head. Draw 2 thin feelers sweeping back to the right, far past the head.
Step 5: Long body
From behind the head, draw a long bean body out to a soft point and back under the head.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start on the back behind the head. Draw a long curve along the body and stop at the tip.
Tip The wing is a long leaf folded along the back.
Step 7: Tummy stripes
Near the back end, draw 3 short curves from the wing line down to the tummy line.
Step 8: Big jumping leg
Over the body, draw a fat thigh up to a high knee, then a shin down. Rub out lines inside.
Tip The knee pokes up high above the back.
Step 9: Front legs and ground
Under the body, draw 2 thin legs bending at a knee to little feet. Add a ground line.
Step 10: Leaf green legs
Colour the legs and the folded wing light green. Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Green grasshopper
Colour the head and body green, around the legs and wing. Colour the mouth red. Leave the eyes white.
