How to Draw a Lion Roaring
Draw a lion roaring in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the face.
Step 1: The face
In the middle of your paper draw a big fat egg face with a flat chin.
Tip Leave room all round for the mane. Fat cheeks, almost flat chin.
Step 2: Two round ears
Start on each top corner, draw a round ear, stop on the face. Add a curve inside each ear.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Across the middle of the face draw 2 big eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: The mane
From the left ear draw cloud bumps round the face, a small one under the chin, back to the ear.
Step 5: Nose and cheek pads
A finger under the eyes draw a small black triangle nose. Add 2 plump oval pads under it, touching.
Tip The nose point sits in the little V between the pads.
Step 6: Big roaring mouth
Start under the left pad. Go across, down in a U, back to the start. Add tongue and 2 teeth.
Step 7: Whiskers and dots
Start on each pad, draw 2 short whiskers out, stopping before the face edge. Dot 3 spots on each pad.
Step 8: Roar lines
Past the mane on each side draw 3 curved lines like brackets, each one further out and longer.
Tip Leave a little gap from the mane. Now you can hear the roar!
Step 9: Sand face
Colour the face and ears sand, around the pads, inner ears and mouth. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Peach cheeks, pink tongue
Colour the cheek pads and the insides of the ears peach, and the tongue pink.
Step 11: Ginger mane, red mouth
Colour the mane ginger around the ears. Colour the mouth red, around the pink tongue and white teeth.
