How to Draw an Idaho Flag

Step 1: Pole and ground

Draw a tall thin pole on the left, a ball on top, and a ground line from edge to edge.

Step 2: The waving flag

Start on the pole below the ball. Draw a wavy top edge, a straight right side, a wavy bottom edge.

Tip Make the flag big and nearly as tall as it is wide.

Step 3: A big circle

In the middle of the flag, a little nearer the top, draw a big circle for the seal.

Tip Leave room under the circle for the banner.

Step 4: The ring

Draw a smaller circle inside the first one, close to it, to make a ring.

Step 5: The shield

Inside the ring draw a shield: a flat top, 2 straight sides, and a rounded point at the bottom.

Tip Keep a gap between the shield and the ring all the way round.

Step 6: Mountains

Start on the shield's left side. Zigzag up and down to make 2 mountain peaks. Stop on the right side.

Tip Idaho is full of mountains, so they are on its seal.

Step 7: The banner

Under the seal draw a long thin box. Let it follow the wave of the flag's bottom edge.

Tip Make the box a little wider than the seal.

Step 8: Banner border

Draw a smaller box inside the banner, close to its edge all the way round.

Tip On the real flag the banner says STATE OF IDAHO in gold letters.

Step 9: Yellow ball, grey pole

Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.

Step 10: Gold ring and border

Colour the ring round the seal and the thin border of the banner golden yellow.

Step 11: Sky and mountains

In the shield, colour the sky light blue and the mountains green. Leave the circle round the shield white.

Step 12: Red banner

Colour the inside of the banner red.

Step 13: Blue flag

Colour the flag blue, around the seal and the banner. Go over your lines and your flag is waving!
