How to Draw a Tide Pool
Draw a tide pool in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pool.
Step 1: The pool
In the middle of your paper draw a big wide oval for the pool of sea water.
Tip Leave room above it for rocks and a sun.
Step 2: Front rocks
Over each end of the pool draw a round rock. Add a small pebble on the front edge.
Step 3: Big back rock
Start on the pool's top edge. Draw a big rock up and over, then back down to the edge.
Step 4: Side rocks
Each side, start on the front rock. Draw a lower rock up and over, ending on the big rock.
Step 5: A starfish
In the water on the right draw a starfish: a fat star with 5 rounded arms.
Step 6: A crab
In the middle draw a wide oval crab body. Add a round claw each side, open at the top.
Step 7: Eyes and legs
On top of the crab draw 2 round eyes with dots. Add a smile and 3 little legs each side.
Step 8: An anemone
In the water on the left draw a small hump. Add 5 fingers waving out of its top.
Step 9: Ripples and sun
Draw 2 short ripple curves in the water. High on the right draw a round sun with 8 rays.
Step 10: Orange and pink
Go over your lines. Colour the starfish orange and the anemone pink.
Step 11: Red crab, yellow sun
Colour the crab and its claws red. Leave the eyes white. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 12: Grey rocks
Colour all the rocks grey. Leave the pool white for now.
Step 13: Blue water
Colour the water blue around the starfish, the crab and the anemone. Your tide pool is done!
