How to Draw a Trumpeter Swan
Draw a trumpeter swan in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small head.
Step 1: Small head
Near the top left of your paper, draw a small egg head, a little pointed at the front.
Tip Leave lots of room below for a long neck and a big body.
Step 2: Long wedge bill
From the head's front, draw a long wedge bill to a round tip. Add a small smile at its base.
Step 3: Friendly eye
High on the head, behind the bill, draw a round eye with a big black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Slender neck
Start under the head. Draw 2 thin lines down in a gentle S, and stop halfway down the page.
Tip Keep the neck thin at the top, and let the 2 lines spread a little at the bottom.
Step 5: Round chest
From the front neck line, draw a round chest bulging forward. Stop low down, where the water will go.
Step 6: Back and tail
From the back neck line, draw the back up to a pointed tail, then down as low as the chest.
Step 7: Folded wing
Start on the back behind the neck. Draw one curve down along the side, and stop under the tail point.
Step 8: Wavy water
Draw a wavy line from the left edge to the right edge, along the swan's bottom. Add 2 ripples.
Step 9: White swan, cream wing
Leave the swan and the eye white. Colour the wing cream, pressing softly.
Step 10: Blue water
Colour the water blue under the wavy line, all the way across the page.
Step 11: Black bill
Colour the long bill black, from the round tip back to the head.
