How to Draw a Treasure Chest
Draw a treasure chest in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round lid.
Step 1: The round lid
Above the middle of your paper draw a big rounded lid like a loaf of bread, with a flat bottom.
Tip The lid is wide: it fills most of the page.
Step 2: The box
Start under the left corner of the lid. Draw the box down, across, and back up to the lid.
Step 3: The lock
In the middle of the lid's bottom draw a lock plate with a rounded top. Add a round keyhole inside.
Step 4: The lid line
Just under the lid draw a line across the box on each side of the lock, from edge to lock.
Step 5: Metal bands
Near each side draw 2 close lines down the box for a band. Carry each band up over the lid.
Step 6: Studs and ground
Draw a round stud on each band, top and bottom. Add a ground line from each bottom corner outwards.
Step 7: Spilled coins
At the chest's left corner draw 2 coins on the ground and 1 on top, each with a small circle.
Step 8: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the chest: one big up right, one small up left, one down right.
Step 9: Yellow gold
Colour the lock around the keyhole, the coins and the sparkles yellow.
Step 10: Grey bands
Colour the metal bands and the studs grey.
Step 11: Wooden chest
Go over your lines. Colour the chest wood brown around the bands, lock and coins. Colour the keyhole black.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a treasure chest, drawn by you.
