How to Draw a Train Conductor

12 steps · Tricky · about 9 min

Draw a train conductor in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the jacket and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 oval eyes, a U nose and a smile. Add C ears, starting and ending on the head.

  3. Step 3: Peaked cap and badge

Draw a cap on the head with a wide flat top. Add a band line, a visor and a badge.

Tip The cap sits on top of the head, with the visor just above the eyes.

  4. Step 4: Neck and jacket

From the chin, draw 2 neck lines down to round shoulders. Add jacket sides, a hem, a scarf and buttons.

Tip Leave a gap under each shoulder for an arm.

  5. Step 5: Arms

From each shoulder draw an arm. The left hangs down to the wrist, the right bends out to the hip.

  6. Step 6: Fists

Draw a fist on each wrist, like an egg with a thumb bump. The right one rests on the hip.

  7. Step 7: Railway lantern

Draw a handle from the left fist down to a flat cap. Add a tall box lantern with a window.

Tip The lantern has a wider flat base at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: Trousers

Start at the jacket's bottom left. Draw 2 long trouser legs with a point between. Stop at the bottom right.

  9. Step 9: Shoes and ground

Under each leg draw a shoe, toe pointing out, with a toe cap curve. Draw a ground line underneath.

  10. Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, ears, neck and fists peach. Add a pink circle on each cheek. Go over your lines.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Yellow buttons, red scarf

Colour the buttons and the lantern window yellow. Colour the scarf and the badge red.

  12. Step 12: Navy uniform, black shoes

Colour the cap, jacket and trousers navy, and the visor, lantern and shoes black, around the red and yellow parts.
