How to Draw a Townhouse
Draw a townhouse in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall narrow house.
Step 1: The tall narrow house
In the middle draw a tall standing box, much taller than wide, from the ground to near the top.
Tip A townhouse is tall and skinny: neighbours squeeze it.
Step 2: Roof ledge and chimney
Along the top draw a flat ledge box poking out past both sides. Add a small chimney on the left.
Step 3: The neighbours
On each side, start on the house and draw a line out, then down to the ground. Add a ledge.
Step 4: The front door
On the right of the house, a little above the ground, draw a tall arched door with a round knob.
Step 5: Steps to the door
Under the door draw 3 flat steps, each a little wider than the one above, stopping short of the wall.
Step 6: The windows
Draw 3 square windows near the top, 3 more under them, and 1 lower down, left of the door.
Step 7: Window panes
Draw a line across the middle of each window for the panes. Draw 2 windows on each neighbour too.
Step 8: Ground, tree and lamp
From the left edge draw the ground line across to the right edge. Add a bumpy tree and a lamp.
Step 9: Sky windows
Go over your lines. Colour all the windows sky blue.
Step 10: Grey ledges and steps
Colour all 3 roof ledges, the chimney, the steps, the door knob and the lamp stone grey.
Step 11: Tan neighbours, green tree
Colour the neighbours and the trunk tan around their windows and lamp, and the treetop green.
Step 12: Red bricks, blue door
Colour the house red around the windows, door and steps. Colour the door navy around the knob. All done!
