How to Draw a Torosaurus

Step 1: Big head

On the left draw a big egg head lying down, fat on the right, with a small beak hook.

Tip The head is almost as long as the body. Leave room on the right.

Step 2: Long frill

Start on top of the head. Draw a very long oval up and back, down to behind the cheek.

Tip The frill is longer than the head. It leans back like a tall shield.

Step 3: Big eye

In the middle of the head draw a big oval eye with a black dot.

Tip Leave a tiny white shine in the eye.

Step 4: Three horns

Draw 2 long horns on the brow leaning forward, one behind the other. Add a short nose horn.

Tip Each horn starts and stops on the head line.

Step 5: Nose and smile

Near the nose end draw a small curved nostril. From the beak draw a long smile back.

Step 6: Frill windows

Inside the frill draw 2 long ovals side by side, leaning apart like a V.

Tip Keep both ovals inside the frill, away from its edge.

Step 7: Back and tail

Start on the frill, level with the eye. Draw a round back sloping down to a pointed tail tip.

Tip The back is highest just behind the frill.

Step 8: Front leg

Draw a ground line. From under the chin, draw a thick leg down to a round foot, then back up.

Tip The leg is a little thinner just above the foot.

Step 9: Tummy and back leg

From the front leg draw a round tummy. Add a thick back leg, a foot, and up to the tail.

Step 10: Far legs

Draw 2 more legs peeking out: one behind the front leg, one in front of the back leg.

Tip Only a strip of each far leg shows. All 4 feet sit on the ground.

Step 11: Toes

On each big foot draw 2 short curved toe lines. Draw 1 on each small foot.

Step 12: Cream horns, yellow windows

Colour the 3 horns cream. Colour the 2 frill windows yellow.

Step 13: Orange frill

Colour the long frill orange, around the yellow windows, the head and the horns.

Step 14: Green body

Colour the head, body, legs and tail green, around the horns and frill. Leave the eye white.
