How to Draw a Seagull
Draw a seagull in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a tiny chin bump.
Tip Leave room on the right and below for the body and the post.
Step 2: A long beak
From the head draw a long slim beak out to a drooping point, then back to the chin.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the beak draw a big round eye with a big black dot and a shine.
Step 4: Plump body
Start on the back of the head. Curve down, round a fat belly, and up to stop under the beak.
Tip The body is a plump egg under the head, narrower than the head.
Step 5: Fan tail
From the bird's bottom draw a fan tail pointing down and back, wide at the end. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 6: Folded wing
Under the head draw a teardrop wing along the back, pointing to the tail. Curve a line across its tip.
Step 7: Front webbed foot
From the front of the tummy draw a thin leg that narrows down to a flat paddle foot pointing forward.
Tip The top edge of the paddle is bumpy, with 2 little toes.
Step 8: Back webbed foot
A thumb behind the first leg draw another leg and paddle foot the same way, from the tummy down.
Tip Leave a gap between the 2 feet. Both sit at the same height.
Step 9: A wooden post
Draw a band under the feet, wider than both. From it draw a short post down to a ground line.
Step 10: White gull, yellow beak
Leave the head and body white. Colour the beak yellow, with one tiny red dot near its tip.
Tip Keep the eye white.
Step 11: Grey wing and tail
Colour the wing grey up to its tip line, and the fan tail grey. Colour the tip black.
Step 12: Orange feet, wooden post
Colour the legs and webbed feet orange, then colour the post a light wood brown.
